Paolo Margari is a Brussels-based senior digital marketing and communications professional working with financial institutions, international organisations, B2B companies and professional-services firms. He holds a PhD in economic geography and hosts the podcast Marketing Geographies. He has more than 15 years of experience in digital communications, mostly in settings where every piece of content goes through several approvals. At Euroclear (2023–2025) he was Social Media Manager: group social media strategy and publishing rules, LinkedIn campaigns and bringing generative AI into the content cycle. At SWIFT (2018–2019) he ran strategy, publishing, listening, advertising and reporting across 22 channels, including live coverage of Sibos. He worked for the British Council in Italy from 2010 to 2013 and in Brussels from 2013 to 2016, running campaigns in 19 EU countries and setting the analytics standards for the global website. Since 2015 he has led consultancy projects through Oltre.Digital. Clients include ING Belgium, where in 2021 he worked on digital marketing for accounts, cards and payments, and Caputo & Partners, a Zurich banking-law firm, where he ran SEO, content and Google Ads for three and a half years. He studied economics at the University of Salento and urban and regional planning at the University of Sheffield, and holds a PhD in economic geography from the University of Bari. He holds a UX certificate from the Nielsen Norman Group. He has published two collections of writing and two albums of electronic music. Before moving into digital communications he did research in economic geography, in particular on the links between geography and memetics, knowledge he now applies to geomarketing and market analysis. He is a member of the Italian Geographical Society. In the podcast Marketing Geographies he explores how places, markets and networks shape the way people find information, choose and buy. He lectures and speaks in English, Italian and French.
